Workshop on Advances in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms

International experts in the area of myeloproliferative disease presented partly unpublished results ranging from basic research of molecular genetics to the study of mechanisms of neoplastic transformation and evolution of myeloproliferative disorders. In accordance with "Bench to Bedside" strategies and the value of new molecular targets for novel therapeutic approaches clinicians and biomedical scientists discussed thier results. Special attention was paid to the neoplastic cells of myeloproliferative diseases, and especially also the mast cell leukemias, which are now also assigned to the myeloproliferative disorders.

Several members of the LBI-CR participated in the work shop and presented their latest results. Richard Moriggl chaired the session on "Genetic Background and Somatic Aberration Profiles" with participants from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. "The work shop provided a stimulating an environment for informal discussions and I was impressed with the quality of data presented throughout", said Richard Moriggl. The Symposium and Joint Meeting of the ECNM, LB-CO and SFB F47-B20 was organised by Wolfgang R. Sperr, Emir Hadzijusufovic & Peter Valent
